Tillamook: Cheese, Beauty, and Cape Meares
As you journey further, make a stop at Tillamook, home of not JUST the famous Tillamook Cheese Factory but also the Blue Heron Brie Factory, a favorite in our crew, they make an amazing lunch! At both Cheese Factories, sample delectable cheeses and learn about the different cheese-making processes. Sitting on the back side of the mighty Tillamook bay, Tillamook is just a short drive to a breathtaking coastline enjoyed from the Three Capes Scenic Loop.
Drive along the bay up an over the new road over the the first cape to Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint for panoramic ocean vistas and the historic Octopus Tree, Cape Meares Lighthouse and some of the BEST Rockhounding on the Oregon Coast at Tunnel Beach in Oceanside, Oregon on the south side of Cape Meares. Here you can find gorgeous green jasper and agates freshly worn from their volcanic host!
Follow the Three Capes Scenic Loop to the south and enjoy natural wonders like Cape Lookout, Sandlake, Cape Kiwanda, the OTHER Haystack Rock in Pacific City, then head back to 101 South.
