June Birthstone

June has three birthstones! Wow! Alexandrite, Pearl and Moonstone. How does a month get multiple stones? often it's due to scarcity, like natural alexandrite is rare and very expensive, so are pearls, but moonstone can be very affordable.

Pearl - Pearl is June's traditional birthstone and is associated with purity, humility and innocence. June's birthstone means "sweet simplicity" and as such pearls are also often given as wedding gifts.

Moonstone - Moonstone is the star of feldspars with its white ot translucent background and blue to rainblow hue. Hindu mythology states moonstone is solidified moonbeams.

Moonstone has seen huge popularity at the turn of the 20th century, the 1960's and more recently in the 1990s.

Alexandrite - Alexandrite is an incredibly rare form of chrysoberyl that changes colors in different lighting. Per carat it is way more expensive than a diamond, like five TIMES more expensive or $25,000 per carat!

Most alexandrite is synthetic sapphire and is an affordable and fun alternative june birthstone.
