This is a mixed silica system… botryoidal chalcedony forming in low-energy conditions, followed by open-space crystallization where quartz had room to develop as druzy. The banding along the edge shows that pulse of silica-rich fluid moving through in stages. The moss inclusions formed during deposition, not later… locked in as the structure built. The slight amethyst coloration points to trace iron in the quartz during growth, shifting the chemistry just enough to register that soft purple tone.
